How to Decorate With Solar Lights

Solar LightsSolar lights have numerous benefits. They are affordable to purchase and economical to use, as they do not require electricity in order to glow. They are easy to install, since no wiring is necessary, and can be used virtually anywhere outdoors. Another advantage to using solar lights is that they are lovely to look at and you can use them to beautify your lawn, deck, pool or other outside area. Discover some decorating ideas that you can customize for entertaining or simply enjoying the exterior of your home.

Consider using solar string lights to decorate your porch or patio. Thread the cords that connect the set of lights around a patio table umbrella, the awnings of your patio cover or the posts around your porch. Some of these solar lights look much like the lights you use to decorate during winter holidays, while others have enhanced light covers with shapes ranging from stars and flowers to chili peppers and cowboy boots, allowing you to add a personal touch to your décor.

Another way to use solar string lights is to wrap them around tree trunks and weave them through branches of the trees in your yard. This will give an air of whimsy and fantasy to your backyard or garden and is an ideal way to decorate for a garden party or outdoor wedding. Globe and lantern-style solar lights that include hooks rather than stakes are lovely dangling from trees, as well. They are extremely versatile, since you can hang them anywhere without the need of an electrical connection, and they are much safer to use than fixtures that hold votive candles are, since there is no danger of fire.

If you have a swimming pool, pond or other water feature in your yard, look for solar lights that float. Since there is no wiring involved, there is no risk of electrocution. Whether you use a dozen of these fixtures or only a few, the glimmering light dancing off the water will make the area look elegant and festive.

No matter how you choose to use solar lights to decorate around your home, you just might decide to keep them there, whether or not you are entertaining.

I think as more and more people realize the savings with solar lighting, inside and out, it will be a major industry! Over the years we have used solar for lighting our garden and as the electricity source for our home, the quality and number of applications has really taken off. We love solar lighting!!

I think solar is an amazing technology, but I haven’t found little solar lights that I have been impressed with.

Either they are to dim, or the juice begins to run out before the next day.

Would love to know of any good quality lights to decorate with.

Very interesting article now that we are in the Holiday season. I think solar lights is a great idea if you can find a quality product that works. Also a solar home will help offset the costs of running lights on your tree.
