Solar equipment manufacturers based in the United States want the government to impose taxes on more than $1 billion Chinese imports. They joined the clamor from the wind power industry to seek compensation for the unfair state aid given to foreign companies.
Arizona-based First Solar announced that the company had flat first-quarter sales and decreased earnings. This is due to cuts in government subsidies in various European countries, which increased solar panel prices.
Designed in India, the $35 solar-powered tablet PC was developed by top talent from the local Institute of Technology. At a set price of a paltry 1,500 rupees ($35 USD), the Indian government hopes to lower that to $20, and eventually $10, and have it hit markets for 2011.
