At least one gigawatt of rooftop solar power capacity has been installed in California to date. This is according to a report released by the Environment California Research and Policy Center.
According to a study made by researchers from the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, solar panels have more advantages than just generating clean energy to the household.
Last October, the Obama administration announced that it plans to install solar panels on the roof of the White House. This would be the 30 years after the solar panels installed during Jimmy Carter’s rule were taken down. The target date for the installation is in spring.
California Public Utilities Commission has approved a plan to generate at least 500 megawatts of solar power, by utilizing commercial building rooftops.
