LG Energy Solution Australia and SolaX Power are initiating a safety recall for specific residential energy storage system batteries (ESS Home Batteries) due to potential overheating and fire risks. This safety concern could result in injuries, fatalities, or property damage, as incidents have already occurred.
What’s the Issue?
LG Energy Solution Australia and SolaX Power are conducting a safety recall for certain ESS Home Batteries, specifically those equipped with cells manufactured between March 29, 2017, and September 13, 2018 (Replacement Recall). Initially announced on February 24, 2021, the recall was later expanded in August 2021 to include additional models.

Additional batteries subject to recall: A new safety recall (Diagnostic Software Recall) has been recently reported to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission by LG Energy Solution Australia. This covers ESS Home Batteries with cells manufactured between January 21, 2016, to March 28, 2017, or between September 14, 2018, to June 30, 2019 (PRA2022/19550).
If you haven’t already had your unit replaced or refunded as part of the Replacement Recall, check your product again for inclusion in the Diagnostic Software Recall. Your safety is our priority.
